This large Bellsouth Communications project was completed in 2006 in
downtown Charlotte, NC. The project was a complete pitch tear-off and
pitch re-roof of approximately 40,000 square feet. Location was a key
factor in this challenging roof installation, with significant
mobilization and safety concerns top-of-mind in working within this
congested metropolitan area. Because the building was a 15-story (180’)
high rise, doing a complete tear-off made set up and materials handling
exceedingly difficult.
The logistics
required Cyclone to set up a crane large enough to reach the roof from
an adjoining parking lot (at the Hilton Hotel) to transport materials,
including hot bitumen, up to the roof. This was accomplished under the
watchful eye of Kyle Winecoff, Cyclone’s Safety Coordinator, and
Cyclone’s Operations Manager, Fred Perron. Bellsouth was pleased with
the completed roof and the professionalism which was exhibited in the
execution of the project.
As a side note, the Manager at the Hilton Hotel, was so impressed by
the handling of the Bellsouth Project, he contracted with Cyclone to do
Hilton’s roof replacement several months later.
