Completed in 2004, this project combined multiple systems including
Merchant & Evans “Zip Rib” curved metal roof and wall panels,
Hickman manufactured coping, Soprema roofing (3 ply w/ cap), and Top
Coat roof coating which completed the 3 Star energy rating. This
project was awarded a LEED Silver designation upon its completion.
The complexity of this building made the project challenging. The
systems included metal roof panels, which were not only curved, but
actually rounded over to form a barrel. The panel then turned back
under, into a soffit and continued down the wall as exterior wall
panels. They then had to taper in, creating an oval. The outer edges
were rounded, forming a seam like that of a baseball, which also
continued down to form the outer walls.
The Soprema roof was skewed at a 45 degree angle, while tapering down
drastically to the southeast corner of the building, and ending in a
point. The roof actually had speed humps built horizontally across it
to slow the water down as it flowed to the drains. The project was full
of abstract angles and difficult transitions between roof and wall
sections.
The difficulty of the project made it both challenging and satisfying
to complete as Cyclone roofing was able to demonstrate our many
capabilities in this difficult installation.
